On behalf of The Wharton School and the 2009 Wharton Restructuring and Turnaround Conference Planning Committee, we welcome you to the 5th annual Wharton Restructuring and Turnaround Conference. Each year, the conference gathers students, faculty, executives, investors and restructuring professionals to explore the issues and trends shaping the restructuring industry. The conference offers attendees a unique opportunity to network and exchange ideas with peers from across the restructuring field.
This year’s conference theme, “Crisis and Opportunity”, addresses the enormous challenges and opportunities created by the unprecedented turmoil in world markets. We are pleased to offer a rich program of distinguished keynote speakers and panelists to explore the conference theme. Our six panels will examine the following topics:
Operational Turnaround: Managing Human Capital through Turnarounds
Financial Restructuring: Financial Restructuring Trends Impacting Consumer-Facing Companies
Legal Perspective: Legal Issues in Cross-Border Bankruptcies
Distressed Private Equity: Opportunities and Challenges in Distressed Private Equity Investing
Distressed Hedge Funds: When and Where to Deploy Capital
Case Study: Financial, Operational and Legal Aspects of a Recent Chapter 11 Restructuring
It is our hope that the perspectives shared today will provide insight for current and aspiring restructuring and turnaround leaders. We invite you to engage with those around you, consider the unprecedented economic environment we face, and challenge one another to be forward thinking about solutions and next steps.
We are grateful to the distinguished group of speakers and panelists who have travelled to be with us today. We would also like to thank the sponsors whose generous support made this conference possible.
